Renewable Energy Innovators
AltaTerra Energy isn't a typical energy project development firm. We're innovators combining solar, wind, batteries, and other technologies in new and surprising ways. Our mission? Supercharging industrial plants and other mid-scale facilities with high-performance, low-emission energy solutions.
Clients First: Low-Carbon Results
With AltaTerra, you get the best of both worlds: better economics and a greener footprint. You also get a higher level of operations reporting, helping you run every facility with verified process, environmental and financial results.
Expanding Clean Energy Frontiers
AltaTerra is taking the energy transition across North America. Our team is building a cross-continental portfolio of trailblazing projects. We're deploying our state-of-the-art systems to power a cleaner, brighter future for businesses and communities alike.
Our team has developed a wide variety of energy and infrastructure projects, with project asset values ranging from $2 million to $1.6 billion, and cumulative project asset values totaling over $8 billion. With a deep understanding of project development, financing, and operations, AltaTerra’s executive team has decades of experience in energy and infrastructure and hundreds of megawatts to their credit.
AltaTerra’s roots date to 2007, with some of the earliest research and advisory services to clean technology companies on one hand and, on the other hand, to purchasers of clean energy. In those early days, we worked mainly in the highly competitive California solar market.
Since then, our success has spanned the entire United States, a diverse array of clean energy technologies, and the entire project lifecycle--from technology development and site acquisition to resource planning, project engineering, and capital markets. Our expertise culminates in demonstrably improved plant operations for our clients.

The contemporary energy transition is transforming not only how energy is generated, but also how, where and when energy resources are deployed and managed. This trend is creating new opportunities in industrial- and utility-scale energy infrastructure.
Global demand for energy is growing. Demand for new energy systems is increasingly low-carbon and environmentally-sustainable. Those who participate in this transition will benefit accordingly.

We use a proprietary, nimble project development model that we first developed in the solar energy industry--enabling a faster, lower-cost development process. We combine pre-arranged project finance with proven, scalable systems--and creativity in leveraging the unique attributes of specific sites. The result is that AltaTerra has upgraded a wide range of sites in less time and with higher profits than industry benchmarks.
We deploy modular, utility-grade equipment, typically in the 10-100 megawatt range.

At AltaTerra Energy, we follow a proven process to ensure that our clients receive the best possible energy solutions. As industry veterans, we typically start with an informal conversation to understand your current energy situation. Then, we develop a set of potential project configurations. We work iteratively, developing more and more detailed information, models and engineering, getting increasingly higher resolution and more fine-tuned in the implementaton details and financial benefits. Throughout your project's engineering, construction and operations, we provide ongoing support to ensure that your energy system continues to be as effective as needed.
Unlike other companies in renewables, AltaTerra offers “pay as you go” arrangements. We use power purchase agreements (PPAs), for example, to sell energy at a pre-determined price over 15, 20, 25 or more years. This arrangement provides AltaTerra’s clients with a low, predictable cost of energy without major upfront capital expenditures.
What is more, AltaTerra is among the elite class of companies that regularly offers PPAs with verified performance guarantees. In addition to PPAs, we provide other types of offtake agreements, including tolling, throughput, heat-as-a-service and other structured supply contracts.
AltaTerra Energy is a privately-held project development firm exclusively focused on advancing mid-scale renewable energy opportunities. AltaTerra is leveraging its team’s decades of experience in developing, financing and managing infrastructure assets in high-growth energy markets.
